It was released in May 2012 as the fourth and final single from Shelton''s 2011 album Red River Blue. "Over" debuted at #53 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of May 19, 2012. On the chart dated September 1, 2012, "Over" became Shelton''s 7th consecutive number one single, and his 12th overall. Terry McDermott covered the song in 3rd season on The Voice.
