The Loneliest Time


"Surrender My Heart" is about the struggle to open up and be vulnerable in a relationship, but ultimately wanting to do so. In the first verse, Jepsen reveals that she has had a difficult time opening up after experiencing a painful loss. She had to work hard to "toughen up" in therapy, but ultimately realizes that "softening up" is what is needed.
