Speaking with Songfacts about this song in a 2011 interview, McCain said that though the track was not intended as a love song he is happy its become such a popular wedding song. He said: "The fact that people use ''I''ll Be'' for their weddings, and weddings don''t have an expiration. Every year there are weddings.
