Along "Soldier''s Poem", "City of Delusion" is one of the oldest songs from the album, as it was finished in France. The song was entirely acoustic at one point but when the band started playing it together, it turned out heavier and more layered. Originally, the song had more of a Latin rhythm to it. Muse didn''t intend to put strings into the song, but they eventually did. The strings were recorded in Italy at Officine Meccaniche Studios by Mauro Pagani after Muse asked him to do a string arrangement on it. Read more on Last.fm.
